Its All About The Aroma
One of the more challenging aspects of developing our range of candles has been selecting the aroma. Even once you determine the scent, the next decision is how strong do you want the scent to be. Considering everyone has different sensitivity to aromatic smells, it makes this a unique experience.
I started by using my husband as my in house tester, but this failed miserably, as we soon realized he has little to no sense of smell. By the time he said “Yes, that smells nice”, everyone else had to vacate the room. So, I then had to move on to friends and neighbors to give me their opinions.
I now have a small team of testers who are always at the ready to give me their feedback. It has taken several months of getting to know their taste in candles, and balancing the degree of aroma needed to provide the experience for each of the candles in our range.
On a side note, it seems most of the men who tried to help out, seem to have the same issue as my husband. Which leads me to consider, do I need a specific range of candles designed for men only.
